A National Campaign for Cardiac Rehabilitation

Update: Tai Chi in Cardiac Rehab

Cardiac rehabilitation is a simple, inexpensive, low tech treatment that saves lives and adds quality to those years. In the UK, despite government targets, the great majority of patients are still denied a chance to take part.

Cardiac rehabilitation is mainly organised by nurses and physiotherapist and lacks a powerful ‘champion’. Due to recent changes in NHS funding a number of programmes around the UK are facing closure. In response a partnership of patient organisations, health professionals and heart charities are calling for a National Campaign for Cardiac Rehabilitation.

The aim of the campaign is modest, simply that patients should be offered rehabilitation to the standard ordained by the Governments in each of the 4 countries of the UK.
