New MSc in managing implantable devices

The School of Health and Social Care at the University of Teesside are working in partnership with members of the Arrhythmia Alliance to develop and deliver an MSc programme through e-learning. This programme will enable graduates/health care professionals with a science and cardiology background to manage implantable devices and participate in implantable device therapy more independently. This would enable them to contribute more effectively within the multidisciplinary team and support their registration as healthcare scientists. The programme offers a sound underpinning in the science and technology of implantable devices and places this within a pathophysiological and Service context. Skills for evidence-based practice are developed which culminate in a dissertation. Further information about the MSc can be obtained from: Bob White, Principal Lecturer, School of Health and Social Care, University of Teesside TS1 3BA Tel: 01642 384913 Email: bob.white@tees.ac.uk

Thames Valley Cardiac Network

The Thames Valley Cardiac Network has created a subgroup to drive the implementation of the Arrhythmia & Sudden Cardiac Death National Service Framework (NSF), the various Healthcare Commission standards and other advice & guidance. The subgroup will recognise the need to promote and encourage equitable access to high-quality services for Thames Valley residents, taking account of the diversity of the population. Successful service improvements will be shared with all organisations across Thames Valley.
Subgroup members are provided with an opportunity to help influence delivery of better services to Arrhythmia patients and families of Sudden Cardiac Death victims. We are extremely keen to have input from a patient's perspective. If you live in the Thames Valley area and would be willing to help us with this important work, please contact: Adrienne Webb, Service Improvement Facilitator, Thames Valley Cardiac Network, Phone: 07879 621031 Email: adrienne@ahwebb.co.uk
